People with asbestos-related conditions, their carers, family members & friends are most welcome at our informal meetings.

You can chat to people in a similar situation, and/or have private, confidential discussions with our professionals, who all have specialised knowledge of asbestos-related diseases.

At every meeting we offer information and advice regarding:

  • Healthcare
  • Support services for families & carers
  • State benefits advice, including help with filling in forms
  • Legal advice on asbestos-related claims from members of a panel of experienced lawyers
  • Bereavement support
  • Educational events
  • Invited speakers
  • Plenty of tea and biscuits always available…

ALL SERVICES ARE FREE OF CHARGE

Meetings are split into two halves:

First half: Caring
Healthcare issues – open question and answer sessions are always popular or we may have an invited speaker

Second half: Campaigning
The CARDS duty lawyer attends from 3-4pm
Local issues discussed e.g. contaminated building site
Reports from meetings/conferences, new DVDs etc
Updates about current national/international isssues
Invited speakers

We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month, 2 pm – 4 pm

Meeting Venue

The Barrow & District Disability Association centre is located on School street just off the Oldham Street car park in the centre of the town.

Access to the building and to disabled car parking area is to the rear of the building.
